I am afraid that our society and its economy is affected by age old customs being perpetuated without accepting the value changes that are necessary for social and economic progress. The family system and marriage employed fifty percent of our population for cooking food and producing off-springs. We are still making 75% of our population in tilling and cultivation. The fact that our National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme can provide 100 days work shows that there is no work for 250 days.Deducting Sundays still 2/3rd of the workers are jobless.

Our economists must plan to provide work for them in industries and other factories and workshops other than mere cultivation and raising crops. Better find out what was the percentage of agricultural operators in USA that produced more wheat than needed that 60 years back they had to dump there wheat in the sea rather than export it and bring the international wheat trade to a stand still.
The Middle East proposed four wives to a man as legal as the only profession that the Arabs indulged in, was warfare from time immemorial as population ratio was reduced to 1:4. Compare the Indo Pakistan wars and the war with china that ended with sharp note! Look at the perpetual war between Iran and Iraq. The profession of war is being run in Afghanistan with international funding, for decades.
One kitchen for a joint Hindu family was the economic need of those days in view the number of mouths to be fed. In our modern India a family supposed to be one man one woman and two children to make one woman cook for four people is an economic waste of women power. In a lower middle class hotel ten workers supply food for 1500 customers. I am not counting my family of four people, me and wife being an extra load on two + 1 family that can afford one cook two helpers and one housekeeper, two car drivers and two men in security for 24 hours.

Our well being can be measured by the fact that the modern kitchen and appliances has cost three times that of the master bedroom of head of the family who is not an average middle class name.

60 years back the man working as a UDC in Revenue department would write home to find a wife for him as the hotel food was nauseating. To day a family of four, have an alternate night out for eating. We had a Prohibition Act to save the people 50 years back. We have TASMAC shops that provide 33% of our state budget. It is time to rethink on ethics, chastity, eternal charity and morals including marriages which produces unwanted and unpaid cooks.

Dear Charu Anna,

Let charity begin at home.Leave the arabs alone they do not bother us with ills about our society you are afraid of.
They at least give a legal status as according to you to the only profession they were engaged in.
In this regard its better we should be not be writing comments about personalities like our chief minister, Ram Vilas Paswan, ex speaker of the Tamilnadu assembly Kalimuthu, and Thirunavukarasar etc,to name a few of the vips. There are innumerable thousands of thousands of cases pending in the Indian courts because of the only so called professions quoted by you.
There is no perpetual war between Iran and Iraq,Don't you read news about the mutual visits of dignataries of either country to each other. If there was a perpetual war between them how is it possible. Please do not target a race and countries populated by the race for unwanted and unfounded reasons.
